Dr. Pritam Chatterjee is a qualified Interventional Neuroradiologist (Endovascular-neurosurgeon) and Interventional Radiologist. With a number of international qualifications and work experience, he is a renowned specialist in this field with high success rates.

 

After completing his primary medical degree (MBBS) as the Best Outgoing Student from his primary medical school (Govt. Medical College, Solapur, Maharashtra, India), he traveled to various parts of the world and earned a large number of academic and professional honors/awards. He did the prestigious post-graduate degree in Radiology, Diplomate of National Board (DNB), from the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi,India and is a Member of National Academy of Medical Sciences (MNAMS), India. He has also been awarded the Fellowship of Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) from the Royal College of Radiologists, London.

He did his fulltime super-specialization Fellowship in Interventional Neuroradiology (FINR) from University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland under the guidance of Professor Anton Valavanis, a world-renowned Neuro-Interventionist and a pioneer in this field. He trained for further two years as a Senior Fellow in Vascular and Interventional Radiology (FIVR) under the mentorship of Dr. M Saravanan (University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, UK). He also trained for two years as a post-doctoral trainee in Neuroradiology and Interventional Radiology under the mentorship of Dr. S K Handique, President of the Indian Society of NeuroRadiology for a period of two years.

He is a currently working as a Consultant at Apollo Main Hospital, Chennai - a reputed JCI accredited super-specialty hospital in India. Dr. Chatterjee is an active academician with various national and international publications to his credit. He is frequently invited as an expert speaker at various national and international conferences. He is a faculty of the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi and actively teaches doctors from all over India. He is also a mentor and faculty for the leading International FRCR (UK) examination courses.

Dr. Chatterjee’s main areas of interest include interventional stroke treatment, coil treatment of brain aneurysms, treatment of vascular malformations, minimally invasive pin-hole treatments of cancer and percutaneous radiologically guided procedures of organs like liver, kidney, lung etc.

He is actively involved in the research and development of advanced technology in his field to make these procedures and devices safe and affordable for patients from middle income and low-income countries. He is a serial entrepreneur with multiple business ownership, professionally trained musician, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, lyricist, and music composer.

  • One of the few practitioners in the world with personal experience in the use of all the currently available Stroke aspiration /Stent-retriever devices (Penumbra, Solitaire, Trevo and Revive) for intracranial vascular re-canalization in stroke.

  • One of the first neuro-interventionist in India to start ADAPT technique for endovascular stroke treatment.
